Job Description

Our client is seeking a Playwright Test Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks in TypeScript for its high-performance foreign exchange trading platform. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and accuracy of mission-critical trading systems through modern test automation practices. The engineer will work closely with development, QA, and client-facing teams in a fast-paced, real-time trading environment.



This is a fulltime REMOTE position. Must currently be located in the US and be able authorized to work in the US for any employer without a visa transfer.




Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks using Playwright with TypeScript.
  • Develop end-to-end, integration, and regression test suites for web-based trading applications and APIs.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous validation of releases.
  • Collaborating with Product Managers, Developers and stakeholders to improve delivery quality through automated testing
  • Collaborate with developers to define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and quality standards.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with engineering teams to drive resolution.
  • Create and maintain test data, mocks, and stubs for complex trading workflows.
  • Validate performance and reliability of UI components under real-time trading conditions.
  • Contribute to test coverage improvements and reduce manual testing dependencies.
  • Participate in release cycles, including smoke testing and production validation.
  • Document test frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Leading test automation initiatives and CI/CD quality integration



Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be highly technical, detail-oriented, and experienced in automation within complex systems, with:


  • Proven leadership in QA/testing roles, with experience guiding teams and managing delivery in Agile environments (Kanban).
  • Strong experience with Playwright (or a comparable framework) for test automation
  • Strong understanding of web application testing.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and Javascript
  • Good knowledge of HTML5
  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Experience testing REST APIs and web-based applications
  • Understanding of modern frontend architectures (React, Angular, or similar)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills
  • Familiarity with test reporting tools and frameworks
  • Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking systems



Preferred:


  • Experience in financial systems, electronic trading, or capital markets
  • Knowledge of React
  • Programming skills in Java
  • Exposure to AI-assisted testing, automation frameworks and modern QA tooling
  • Experience with mocking frameworks such as Mock Service Worker (MSW)
  • Familiarity with Selenium or Cypress
  • Knowledge of FIX protocol or market data systems
  • Exposure to performance or load testing tools
  • Experience working in Linux environments
